A Laser Light Show Of Awesomeness - Cell Phone Bike Mount Review

By Ashley Barnes

For the price you can't beat this mount. It has an opening for the volume buttons and the charger. I bought it for my iPhone and it works perfectly. Most of the other "iPhone" mounts forced you to remove your case to use them. The vent mount is just right for my Tahoe and doesn't need any additional tubing or anything like some might need. I am very happy with both mounts. I would recommend this as a good universal mount. I also had to call customer service for a replacement piece (damaged in shipping) and they couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. I think if I went to ace hardware and jury rigged it a bit it could stay, but defiantly not on its own. My Evo has an Otterbox Defender case on it, so it's a fairly bulky piece of equipment for the mount to hold, and it does hold it fairly well. The clamps secure pretty snugly on the sides of the phone and it was only early on when I didn't realize I needed to tilt the mount back slightly so the phone isn't leaning forward that it ever fell out of the mount (only happened once).

They're still soft enough to provide a good grip without being too tight. The push button release for the ratcheting arms is quick and easy to use, and so far hasn't released unprompted.

The clamp kept the mount firmly in place and my iPhone was pretty secure in the cradle. The only drawback might be that the cradle tends to rotate about the pivot a bit when the car is in motion, but it happens rarely. I wanted to get a car dock for my smartphone without having to take the case off. This car dock is well made, and comes with a car vent attachment as well.

The vent mount works with my 06 Accord. I needed a car mount for my Samsung Captivate, and I found this product via the XDA forums.

I've gone through a lot of these things, and trust me you're getting a great deal here. I haven't had any problems with it coming unstuck or anything, it seems pretty solid as a rock once it's on the windshield. The design is a little bulky and unattractive, but for all intents and purposes, it's a solid set up. This was exactly what I was looking for.

If your car does have a Bluetooth audio system, this will just make that system better by providing a great place to put your phone. The unit feels a bit flimsy upon initial inspection, but has proven to be quite durable in spite of first impressions. I got this one and the Motorola brand dash mount. The Motorola mount is nice that it puts the phone in to car mode automatically when you put the phone on it.

It fits the Optimus perfectly, not blocking anything; and it holds it quite securely. I used the mounting disk, sticking it onto the dashboard so I will be legal in California.
