I have had other similar units that grip surely. If you pulled a bit too much, this will come out of the vent.
Both are installed via the air vent attachment, though the windshield suction works great as well. Stop shopping around. My only issue is that the button used to release the side clips is a little bit flimsy. I use the suction cup attachment for my windshield, but it has a mounting disk for the dash, so you can mount it there, and it comes with a clip for your air vent. And the best part is that it EASILY fits my Otterbox case. Very hard to find clips that do, so I'd practically give it 5 stars just for that The vent mount attachment works but is a bit wobbly and the vent bounces up on bumps. Another review stated that it 'just worked' with the Incredible. I have NO idea what that means because it will hold this phone and much larger as well. It keeps my iPhone still even on my rough country roads and my dirt/rock driveway. Quite frankly, I'm pleased with this product.
That way I can hook it right onto the vent while the AC is on and keep the unit cool. I was pleasantly surprised by this when it arrived. I have not had it fall off like some other mounts. I drive a F150 truck so the ride is a bit bumpy but this mount has not failed.
I attach mine to the windshield and it holds great. On my wife's car, it is attached to the air vent and holds very well unless bumped from the side. My phone stays in well (Samsung mesmerize) and has never fallen out. Excellent product, highly recommend. Using dash mount, very adjustable and holds the phone well. Product seems pretty fragile so I try my best not to move it but it works for the most part.
Even with no phone attached, if I stuck it to a surface, it would fall off within 5 seconds or so. I thought maybe it was because my windshield was cold, but after it was warmed up, it still didn't work. I take the mega grip off and slip it on the vent mount in my car. The vent mount is okay, I'm not a big fan of them but it gets the basic job done. I am ordering a 2nd one for my other car. It is cheap and works well connected to the vent.
Vent clip and suction cup both work very well. Doesn't scratch or mess anything up.

The Vent Holder didn't fit one of my cars but it comes with a flat disk that can be secured to your dash if you don't like the window mount. AUTO GLASS REPLACEMENT COST.
