Is Your Ready With Cheap Sim Only Contracts

By Frank Romford

Over the past couple of years Cell Phone Service Providers have been expanding their product line by offering cheap sim only contracts to customers who are no longer involved with a long term service contract. However, to take advantage of this new product, you need to have a phone that is usable. Not all cell phones are capable of taking advantage of these offers, but for those that can, this could result in significant savings for you.

Cheap sim only contracts allows you to pick and choose what services you thing you will need just like a regular network contract, but they with these you can give a 30 day notice to either change the terms of your usage or find another company that might be able to help you out. This mobility factor is one of the nicest aspects of this service.

The important factor in gaining this mobility is whether your phone has the ability to remove the chip inside it to put a different one in. If your phone lacks this ability, then you cannot enter the marketplace for this service. To figure out if you can, there is a chip that is normally placed under the battery in the back of the phone. Check there before you go out and look for a new contract. If it is not there, you would need a different unit.

This does not mean that you can make the changes necessary, but it does mean you should be able to make it. Sometimes service providers lock the phone by using the identification number that they gave you to recognize you as a customer and match it up with the serial number of the phone that you have. This connection has to be broken to unlock your phone so you can use cheap sim only contracts.

You can tell this by having someone who has an unlocked phone put their chip in yours, if your phone does not ring when you call the other number, then the phone is locked. Sometimes all that is needed is to enter a code to free it up, but other times you will have to take it to a store where they have a machine that will have to do it.

For regular cell phones that do not have a lot of software applications, breaking the connection is fairly easy. However, other phones that are in vogue today can be much more difficult. Androids and iPhones are the type of phone that you could destroy by messing with the software when trying to make them accept a new sim card. The phone could become useless.

If you travel a lot to other countries, or are getting ready for a special trip to one, unlocking your phone to put in a chip that utilizes domestic carriers in those countries can save a great deal of money. The roaming charges that often occur when one leaves their home country can be extremely expensive, and now these can be avoided.

Getting your phone to freely accept offers from the various companies offering network services opens a new world of savings. All you have to do is make sure your phone will accept their cheap sim only contracts.
