Is SIP A Cost Effective Soluton To ISDN?

By Martin Wacey

The creation of virtual phone lines between your PBX and the public network is accomplished by a new technology called SIP.(Session Initiation Protocol). The following article attempts to answer the question :-Is SIP a cost effective solution to ISDN?

Telephone calls can then be made over your internet connection with the subsequent savings being made on the ISDN and analogue line rentals.

You can try this new technology in a risk free way by using the SIP trunks for outgoing calls and the remaining ISDN lines for the incoming calls.Outgoing calls could still be routed over the ISDN channels if the Internet connection fails.Trying the technology out brings immediate savings. This means there are no upfront investment costs to consider.

Cheaper phone calls and cheaper analogue and lSDN costs are the tangible rewards as the surplus lines are no longer needed. This means no initial investment as any minor installation costs are immediately swallowed up by the savings.

An example of this is the fact that companies dont need people on the phone all of the time. With SIP trunks costing a fraction of ISDN costs savings are easily transparent.Companies tend to rent more ISDN channels than they actually need. This means an instant return on any initial minor installation costs.

And therein lies the advantage of migrating to SIP.You can replace some of the costly analogue lines and ISDN channels with SIP trunks and try out the technology in an entirely risk free way as the remaining ISDN and analogue lines will serve as back up if the internet were to fail.

As reduced call costs are an additional automatic benefit it is essential when looking for a company that offers SIP that you get a quote for these rates.

One such company offering this technology is Tipicall. At the moment they are running a promotion offering free SIP trunking for life.

Mobile Broadband

By Ronald Smithson

Computers began as bulky behemoths that took up a lot space that they could hardly be called practical. More over, they were burdened with so many gadgets that people's desks often became a tangle of vines, a mini-forest of wires and plugs. But humans are nothing if not resourceful. And it was only a short period of time before the computers got smaller and smaller, even to the point that they became hand-held gadgets that you could bring with you wherever you go. Still, one of the most vital characteristics of computers is that they can connect to the net, and moreover, to the whole world. People recognized this fact immediately. The potential of having mobile internet are simply limitless. So, it's really no wonder that mobile broadband - or wireless internet - was developed soon after laptops, notebooks, and other portable computers. However, mobile broadband does have its pros and disadvantages.

Pros of Mobile Broadband

By far, the best advantage of mobile broadband is that it's portable. The amount of comfort it offers the users is just outstanding. Back when you had to be connected to a plug to work in the net, work was boring and somewhat tiring. Nowadays, though, people who use the internet have incredibly comfortable lives. They can even work while they're on vacation. Imagine that, earning your living while you're sipping red wine somewhere in the restaurants of Paris. You don't have to have a phone connection so that you can access the internet. All you need is your mobile broadband.

Disadvantages of Mobile Broadband

However, like any kind of technology, mobile broadband still has lots of space for improvement. For one thing, the whole "anywhere, anytime" slogan that broadband providers so love to say is not entirely accurate. There are areas where you won't be able to access the internet and some places where the connection is poor. Service is by no means constant or reliable. Also, when several users are trying to access the internet in a certain place, the internet speed can be considerably reduced. Mobile broadband is also far less flexible and fast than the conventional form of internet connection which uses wires and telephone lines.

So, whether or not you're going to get mobile broadband would depend on what you value more: mobility and convenience or speed and reliability.

WIRELESS INTERNET

All About Wireless Speaker Systems

By Andy Zain

In the past, listening to music required extensive set-up. You had to purchase a high quality sound system and set of speakers, then connect a mass of wires to get everything to work correctly. Nowadays, though, you can bypass much of that by using one of several wireless speaker systems offered for sale in the United States. You can get a wireless system that includes a single speaker, a dual set, or even surround sound.

Wireless speakers can be used both outside and inside the house. Outside, they have a significant advantage over boom boxes, which require batteries. In addition, of course, a wireless system is far preferable to trying to move and rewire a traditional speaker set.

There is no difference in sound quality between wireless and wired speakers. The only difference is the mechanism by which sound is transferred. Some wireless speakers use an FM radio transmitter to receive sound. These speakers come with a special transmitter, which must be connected to your CD player, stereo, or other audio device. Depending on the speaker set-up, you can transmit sound from up to 300 feet away. The signal can go through walls, furniture, and other electronic devices to get to the speakers.

Another type of wireless speaker uses infrared technology to send the signal to the speakers. This technology is generally used in home theatre systems; FM transmitters are far more common in general use speakers. In any case, infrared transmitters lack the ability to go through walls and other obstacles, so you need a clear path from audio device to speaker if you use this type of system.

Other than the distance problem, there are very few disadvantages to using wireless speakers. These speakers are extremely durable and can withstand most types of weather.

However, leaving them on a porch overnight should not interfere with their normal operation. The durability of materials used in wireless speakers can sometimes muffle sound if the transmitter is located too far away from the receiver.

Wireless speaker systems give you high quality sound without the inconvenience of having to set up and wire your system every time you move it. Just make sure your speakers are close to your music source, and you can rock out wherever you'd like.

By Stance Jackson

Cell phones are very different now than what they were just 3 to 5 years ago. They have become mp3 players, cameras, and even GPS devices as well as their primary use of being a telephone. These phones have mostly been targeted towards adults but now manufacturers are realizing that there is a huge market available for phones for kids as well.

Cell phone manufacturers hope older teens think the phones are cool and they hope the parents want their kids to have them for the safety factor. Children have always been a big consumer of cereal and now the phone companies realize that kids can be big cell phone consumers as well.

Smaller children, however, dont need phones that are that sophisticated and they just need a phone that will do the basics: call out and receive calls. Parents of younger children may want their kids to have a phone for safety purposes and a basic phone works just fine.

Unlike phones for adults, there are not that many choices for real young children yet. The best kids cell phones for kids all have a couple of common features and then some cool designs so that the kids like them. Kids cell phones all have preprogrammed keys where the parents can input all the important numbers kids would have to call if they got in trouble.

Many parents want their kids to have cell phones so that they will be safer but they dont want to give them access to something they can abuse. This will allow you to make an informed decision as to which is the best kind for you and for those who are new to golf GPS equipment you will be able to learn exactly what they can do and how they can benefit your game.

The golf GPS units work in the same way as the kind of GPS you may use on your automobile or any kind of tracking device. They use the advanced satellite technology to let you know exactly where you are on the course and of course what is around you so that you can calculate your next swing.

Certain hazards around the courses that may spoil or impair your game will show up on the golf GPS unit so that you are able to avoid them as well as find other ways around without having to know the course inside out. High ground may be hidden by trees but knowing that it is there beforehand will give you an advantage over the other players.

When you want to take a break during a long game you will of course want to find somewhere that you will not be interrupting another game or be in danger of being hit by a ball of club of other players. This is another circumstance where the golf GPS system will come in handy.

Whether you are an advanced or novice player you will find that more and more people are using the golf GPS units to get ahead in the game, so why not give yourself the same advantage as so many other players have and know exactly where you are sending your ball to and avoiding hazards on unknown courses.

You will be able to use the golf GPS unit to help you to find out the distance between your location and another position which will allow you to make a better choice of which golf club to use and the amount of power you need to use to get the ball where you want it to go.

When you play on a new course you can find this to be at your disadvantage, especially if the people you are playing against have played here many times before. This means that even if you are a better player you will be at a disadvantage because of this. By knowing exactly where to aim for and where any hazards are located you can be sure that you will have the same of not a better advantage over others that are playing.

There are many kinds of golf GPS systems available and they can range from being very basic to those that will give you details of every nook and cranny of any course you wish to play. People who are not accustomed to technology will still find that the units are easy to follow and come with instructions so simple that even a child could pick them up. Some of the systems available can even layer images to give you an exact measurement of not only the length and width but also the height of any obstacle that is in your way whether natural or man made.

Rethink Your Teamwork

By Nicola Trent

When you've tried to work together with other people you already know, that the most important point is communication. Without good communication people set priorities, depending on their personal estimation. Everyone will try to do his part best, but this can result in some problems regarding the whole project itself. Even when all parts are finished, they may not fit together, because the several interfaces don't fit together.

To ensure a successfull project's end, you have to schedule team meetings. These can be recurring meetings (e.g. every Monday) or short termed meetings, every time you need to clarify things with other team members.

It can be easy to schedule a meeting when all project members are within one building. But it becomes more difficult, when every team member is located at a different place or even different country. Then you should use a project managing platform which offers multiple communication and planning possibilities.

In today's broadband world it's easy to work together, even when you're thousands of miles away from all other project attendants. There are lots of project, scheduling and team collaboration software packages available. You just have to evaluate which one fits best for your terms.

There are lots of different approaches, online and offline, with synchronization or without etc. You have to think about the features you need for four project. This may be a scheduler, task- and contacts manager or an email client. Keep in mind, that even if you're a computer pro, other may be not. So try to look for a team software which offers the main features you need and is easily understandable. Don't take a software which offers so many functions and is too hard to understand, that you have to read the documentation first before starting. Keep it simple and your project's success will be sure.

Canadian Address Database Helps Immigrants Better Adapt to the Country

By Adriana Noton

An address database can be a godsend to persons who are new to a country. This is especially true for Canada where immigration is an important part of the country's development. Can you imagine being in a new place and having no idea how to find even basic facilities such as a hospital or a restaurant? Adapting to a new country, its culture and accents can be a daunting task for anyone. As such, anything that can help make this process easier is welcomed. Moving around in large cosmopolitan cities such as exist in Canada can be terrifying and confusing for persons from small countries. Many of the new immigrants to Canada come from countries where everyone basically knows how to find everything they need. This is not so in Canada, and can be especially tough for older adults who generally lack the adaptability of teens and younger adults.

What is an Address Database Base?

An Address Database Base is simply a database of addresses. In many cases, such as with the Canadian Address Database, there are more than just addresses. The database contains directions for various businesses and establishments. Many address databases can be quite comprehensive. With the availability of GPS systems and other internet sources, an address database can be useful for immigrants moving to any country, but especially a large one such as Canada.

Why an Address Database can Help Immigrants

Since the Canadian Address Database contains a large number of business locations, immigrants can use it to move around. This tackles one of the major challenges faced by immigrants in any country. No one wants to have to be constantly asking for directions to somewhere can make it harder for to fit in to a new country. This also labels the person as a newcomer. This could be psychologically difficult for the immigrant to handle on a daily basis.

In addition to giving addresses and directions, such a database also makes it possible to know correct postal codes for mail. Canada is a large country and it will take time for an immigrant to know all the postal codes without help. In any new environment people need to be able to learn fast and get things done on their own a lot faster. As well, such a database is also useful in that Canada as it also maintains what is known as the "Canadian National Change of Address" list. This in effect keeps a history of people and businesses that have changed addresses for 36 months, therefore finding businesses and people will not become too frustrating even if they have moved.

Canada is known for being immigrant-friendly and maintaining an address database is just one of the many aspects of helping immigrants adjust to the new environment. The government understands that immigrants need to be assimilated into the country quickly and easily so they can settle in to their new home. The easier the process is, then the sooner they can begin making their contributions to economic development. There can be no doubt that the Canadian Address Database serves a useful purpose in helping immigrants more readily adapt to living in the country.

Signals, Coordinates and GPS

By Herbert Reich

Where did the GPS system come from and how does it work? While it wasn't always available to the public, it has quickly evolved as the favorite means of navigation by nearly everyone. The Global Positioning System (GPS) has become the de facto navigation system for the entire world. Today, you can find a GPS system in almost every new car model, on cell phones, and several other devices.

The GPS system was developed exclusively for and by the United States military. In'83, however, after a Korean flight was shot down by Russia for being in the wrong airspace, Ronald Reagan made it available to the masses. He believed that the world needed this technology in order to avoid disasters like the Korean flight. Since then, it has evolved into much more than a military device.

The theory behind global positioning is simple, but its implementation is rather complex. The U.S. government has approximately 30 satellites in orbit at any given moment. These satellites send out a constant stream of microwave signals back down towards the earth. A GPS tracking system on the ground receives the signal from the satellite. It then calculates the exact position, direction, and speed of itself based on these signals. Each time the receiver gets a signal from the satellite, the new calculations are made immediately then relayed as coordinates.

Millions of vehicles are now equipped with GPS tracking systems. They tend to be reasonably priced and easy to install. They can all provide turn-by-turn directions to any contiguous location. Most are even voice enabled, telling you to "turn at the next right" so you can keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. One of the newest devices to get GPS capabilities is the iPhone. Having detailed maps in your cell phone opens up a world of possibilities for everyone.

Indeed, GPS is extraordinarily useful. To say global positioning technology is useful is about as insightful as saying a hammer is useful. If you're lost, you will certainly be grateful for it. GPS devices are affordable conveniences that are now poised to become as ubiquitous as hammers. Navigate your way home, no matter where life takes you.

Broadband

By Edward Dantes

One characteristic that you'll notice about the earth today is that it's changing quickly, almost every minute. The reason behind this is the revolutionary application of the internet into our lives. Communication has never been easier. Before, you had to send your mail through courier, which would sometimes take weeks or even months to get to its receiver. Today, it will take less than a second to converse with anyone on the other side of the globe. It's fantastic, really. Things are much better now than they were a decade ago, all because of broadband. Even now, broadband is quickly changing the world of communications, replacing telephones with Voip, a communications system which uses computers and the internet for making calls. It's such a wonderful development that everyone should just jump in and support it. However, like everything else, Voip has its own pros and cons.

Pros of Voip

There are two things that make Voip wonderful: affordability and comfort. Anyone who has ever had to place a long distance call probably knows how expensive they can get. With voip, however, long distance calls to the other side of the earth are practically free as long as you have a PC to PC connection. PC to phone calls do cost something but it's a very small price that's easily affordable. Also, as long as you have broadband or have access to broadband, you would have your voip phone. No matter where you are, whether you're on a resort in Hawaii or in freezing Alaska, your phone number for your voip phone will stay the same. And, what's more, if you're calling someone through your computer, you can easily send pictures, documents, and even videos, as you do your call.

Cons of Voip

One disadvantage of Voip is that it's not yet very stable. In fact, there are a lot of kinks and bugs that the developers have to fix. This technology is still under development and it should be a few years before it becomes totally stable. Also, if you have a good broadband connection but the one you're speaking to does not, then you're sure to encounter problems.

Still, Voip is sure to replace the traditional phone lines in a matter of time. There's no question of whether or not you should get it, especially if you have broadband. My advice would be just to wait a bit before getting it. Let them improve the technology first.

Getting the Right Accessories for Your GPS System

By Joseph Aaron

The most recent GPS models found in stores generally contain enough features to please many car owners who would like their commutes to be effortless and safe. However, there might be situations when you arrive at the limits of your GPS device yet still want your GPS device had more applications or more tough design for not-so-smooth situations. A great model to look into is the Garmin Nuvi 770 Portable GPS Navigator.

Don't sell your GPS device and purchase another one to meet your expanding requirements right away. Manufacturers provide GPS accessories which could work with your model and could provide some added capacity that will live up to your expectations. The prices you'll find on most of these GPS accessories are predicably well below the price of a standard GPS device. Here are a few of the standard GPS accessories that are made by every one of the popular manufacturers.

Chargers

Most of the less expensive models do not last very long because of many of them posessing a battery life of a measly 2-3 hours. Because of this you are required to charge your GPS devices every now and then during long drives. Even though most of those devices usually are packaged with a GPS charger, there will probably be instances when the charger breaks or might be lost. Do not settle for those imitation chargers as they will likely mess up the battery. Always use chargers sold by the manufacturer of your GPS device. These chargers will fully charge the device quickly, which lets you rely on it for long road trips. A nice option to consider is the Garmin Nuvi 770 GPS Navigation system.

Carrying Cases

These GPS accessories can be especially low-cost and practical accessories that are engineered to safeguard any GPS device from exposure to an assortment of elements. While many GPS devices are sturdy enough to survive these elements out of the box, a carrying case gives them one more layer of protection, and the ones with straps will be simpler to keep track of. Travel cases are more detailed versions of carrying cases which are just as compact, yet designed for stowing different GPS accessories including chargers.

Adhesive Discs

A few types of GPS devices can be entirely too complicated to fasten to certain kinds of car windshields. Before the frustration becomes unbearable, think about spending a few bucks on some adhesive disks. Fastening your GPS device should be as easy as sticking this disc to the windshield or another flat surface and then mounting a GPS device onto the disc.

Car Kits

The type and number of accessories provided which comprise the car kit might vary depending on the manufacturer, but usually, car kits are the most comprehensive GPS accessories to get if you are unsure on the accessories you really need or if you simply wish to be ready for any dire situations. Most of the car kits contain mounting kits, adhesive disks, data cables, and power adapters. In case you have broken some accessories, a car kit could quickly replenish your supply or provide more for backup purposes. Take a look at the Garmin Nuvi 770 Portable GPS Navigator for a nice unit.

A few models might require more accessories than the norm; so the most sensible way to learn about accessories for any given GPS device is to read through the product page which applies to your device and find the accessories made for your device to avoid the cost of any unnecessary purchases.

Can I Watch TV On My Computer?

By Bob Chapman

Internet connection speeds seem to be getting faster and faster. The bandwidth available at home or abroad, makes it easy to stream a large amount of data to our computers. As a result, we can now watch our favorite television programs without being tied to our living rooms.

Some of the major broadcasting companies are beginning to offer the ability to watch programs through a stream on their website. This allows visitors to catch up on their latest programs, even though they may have missed the original broadcast. In some cases, these programs can be placed on a portable device for viewing without an internet connection.

There are a few drawbacks when watching television programs through the websites of the broadcasting companies. First, some of the recent programs that are available in high definition will not provide the same experience when viewed in lower quality video. Secondly, there are sometimes delays associated with the buffering and downloading process, which may be needed to see these programs online.

Another option to view TV through your PC is through the use of a TV player. This is a program that is specifically designed to provide the best viewing available of television programs on your computer. Some offer up to 3000 channels of television and radio stations. In addition, many of these are from other countries, so the number of options available is even better than what you would get at home.

As the internet connections at home and abroad increase, so does the ability to take your entertainment with you. We can watch our favorite TV programs on laptops or other portable devices. Internet cafes and coffee houses are offering lightning fast connections to the internet, which means you can stay current with your favorite programs.

GPS Benefits All

By James Pynn

The Soviets had threatened to dominate space well before the Eagle had landed. When the Soviet Space Program successfully sent Sputnik into orbit in'57, the so-called free world was in a panic. Congress reacted with swiftness reserved for a national crisis. Indeed, for many Americans, the perceived superiority of the Soviet program was tantamount to a crisis. President Eisenhower moved quickly to establish both NASA and DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) in'58.

Led by the former head of the German rocket program, Wernher von Braun, NASA immediately began to explore the possibility of sending human beings into space. The motto declared "For the Benefit of All," but NASA moved quickly for the American public when it launched the Explorer 1 satellite on January 31,'58. Dubbed Project Mercury, this program involved seven original astronauts, of whom, Alan Shepard became the first American into space, while John Glenn would become the first American to orbit the earth.

For decades the GPS system was classified and reserved only for military and governmental use. Then, in'83, a Soviet interceptor aircraft shot down the civilian Korean Air airliner KAL 007, killing all 269 people on board. The plane had strayed into Soviet airspace and although the Soviet had probable cause to destroy the perceived threat, it was determined had the airliner had accurate navigational systems, the tragedy could have been avoided. President Ronald Reagan subsequently announced that civilians and civilian agencies should have access to the GPS tracking systems.

Initially developed by the Navy, the first successful GPS tracking system was dubbed Transit, and used five satellites to triangulate positions around the globe. With the Space Race underway, NASA began implementing a new tracking system, called the Global Positioning System (GPS). The system involved the use of satellites to track the position and location of both spacecraft and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

GPS racking devices have become an integral part of modern 21st Century life. Not only has it become the preeminent navigational system for cars, but the scientific community has used it to track wild and domestic animals and migration patterns. Law enforcement uses GPS tracking to find stolen cars and keep tabs on criminals on bail or probation. Now, not only can someone find where they are on a city grid, but also he or she can find nearby businesses and restaurants.

Location, Location, Location

By Marcus Warner

There are few things as difficult and soul-crushing as having to find a new place to live, especially in Los Angeles. My wife and I finally found a house that met all our needs. It's a cozy enough place for the two of us, our dog -- and my mother-in-law. I know what you're thinking. But, we had no choice. You see, she pays most of the rent.

She pays most of the rent, but it was our responsibility to find the house. We thought we would be taking advantage of the real estate bust out here in California, but the bust has had little impact on rent prices. This is where her mother comes into the picture. Anyway, we started our search by driving around the neighborhoods we fancied most -- not including Holmby Hills, Santa Monica, or Bel Air.

For about an hour or so, our strategy worked. That is, until the reality of Southern Californian real estate prices hit us straight on. One of the first things you learn when moving to a big city is compromise. So, instead of the middle tier neighborhoods, we headed for the cheaper fare of the Valley and Santa Clarita.

We agreed to divide the call-back list in half. One by one, each house was either too small (two bedrooms) or too expensive ($1600 and up). We had exhausted the drive-by method and ourselves. Our next alternative was to enroll with an online house finder service -- for a nominal fee, of course.

Not only had we exhausted our gas and ourselves, but we also exhausted the batteries in our GPS tracking system. What good is it to know how to get somewhere only to be told you can't afford to live there. Eventually we found a place -- a house -- that was big enough for all of to have the space we need. Do I like knowing my mother-in-law pays two-thirds of our rent? Let's just say it's hard on the ego.

Computer Recycling Plans That Help to Save the Environment

By Adriana Noton

Today, everyone is making changes to help preserve the environment for the next generation. In your home or business, you have likely installed energy efficient light bulbs or appliances, become more conscious about turning off lights in rooms you are not using, and learned to turn down the thermostat while donning a sweater when the weather turns chilly.

Your computer represents a large drain on environmental resources. Many steps can help you limit this drain. For example, when you are not using the computer, turn it off and unplug it rather than letting it go into "hibernation" mode. This will save electricity. When your computer is no longer functional, you are faced with another opportunity to do something to protect the environment. Rather than tossing the machine into the garbage heap, you can recycle it through a computer recycling company.

The Need for Recycling

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), over 40 million computers will become obsolete each year. This is a tremendous amount of garbage to add to already overflowing landfills. Consumer electronics make up approximately two percent of the entire solid waste stream in the country, and this number is continually increasing. While this is a small percent, recycling the computers will make a tremendous impact on the overall health of the environment, because in reality this percent represents 2.25 million tons of consumer electronics, which includes computers. Sadly, only about 18 percent of those are currently being recycled, which means 1.84 million tons of electronic waste is hitting the landfills each year.

Find a Local Program

If your area is one of the 800 communities that have set up electronics collection events or programs, use the local program to recycle your computer. Contact the electronics retailers in your area to find out if they offer computer recycling programs. If you cannot find a local program in this way, do a simple online search to find one.

Mail-In Programs

Some communities may not have computer recycling options. In this case, consider using a mail order recycling program. For example, Hewlett Packard offers a mail in take-back program that will accept computer hardware of any type. The company then reuses or recycles the machine. Other programs may charge a small fee, but this fee is worthwhile in light of the help recycling your computer provides to the environment.

Donation Programs

If your computer is still usable, but you simply need a better or more modern machine, consider donating the computer. Many non-profit organizations will take older computers, upgrade them, and then sell them at a discounted rate. By recycling your computer in this way, you not only help the environment, but also your local community.

Before you throw your unwanted computer in the garbage, take the time to look for a recycling or donation program. Erase all personal information from the machine before donating or recycling it to protect yourself, but then drop it off at the center of your choice. By helping to protect the environment today, you ensure that your children and grandchildren can still enjoy it someday for themselves.

VoIP Services And Its Configuration

By Graham McKenzie

VoIP services, voice into digital signals on the Internet travel. If you want to dial regular phone numbers, the signal is converted to a regular telephone signal before reaching the destination. VoIP allows you to do, from a computer, a special VoIP phone, or traditional phone connected to a special phone adapter directly. In addition, wireless "hot spots" in places such as airports, parks, cafes, allow you to connect to the Internet can allow you to use wireless VoIP services.

What kind of equipment do I need? Broadband (high-speed Internet) connection is required. This can be through a cable modem, or DSL, or LAN, such as high-speed services. A computer, adapter, or specialized phone is required. Some VoIP services only through your computer or a special VoIP phone, other services allow you to use a traditional phone connected to the VoIP adapter. If you use a computer, you need some software and an inexpensive microphone. Special VoIP phones plug directly into your broadband connection and operate largely like a traditional phone. If you are using VoIP phone adapter, you can dial-up, as you always have, and service providers can also provide dial tone.

Through this service, there are some difference between making a local call and a long distance call. Some providers render their service freely for their subscribers. On basis of the area codes, they will allow you to dial for some areas from your residential area. So those people who are dialing to you from long distance will bear the charges according to their area codes and distance. This facility will be available to traditional phones also. Some other VoIP providers will allow you to call from your residential place to anywhere at a flat rate for the calls of particular minutes.

Through this VoIP service, who can I call? According to your calls service the limits will be fixed to all subscribers to the service. Also you can dial the phone numbers of the people those who are local, long distance, having mobile and international phone numbers. If you call for somebody who has analog phone, he can talk to you with his same analog phone without need of any special equipment. Some VoIP providers facilitate to talk with more than one person simultaneously. There are some main advantages in VoIP services. Many of the VoIP providers will not render their services with traditional phones particularly. Some VoIP providers will allow their services by collecting additional extra payment. As per your choice and wish you may avoid the payment for brand band connection and also traditional phone line. There are some disadvantages also in VoIP services. If you like to replace your traditional phone with VoIP you have to face some differences exactly.

1. Some VoIP services do not work during power outages and service providers may be unable to provide backup power. 2. Not all VoIP services connect directly to emergency services through 9-1-1. For additional information, please contact Tel: 911. 3. VoIP service provider may or may not offer directory assistance / white page of the list.

Mostly, while we are working with computer we can talk on the phones. And also when you go anywhere, you can take your phone adapter. With the help of some VoIP providers, you can use your phone adapter anywhere where with high speed internet connection is possible. Suppose if you like to use your VoIP in a new location you can do it only with the help of 9-1-1 emergency services. For your additional attention and detail you can refer VoIP ... 911 Advisory. Usually all VoIP services is possible with broadband internet connection. But some services will require your computer for its action. During that time you have to shut down your system. When a call is coming to you, you will get a ring in all special VoIP phone or in a regular telephone which is connected with adapter as you are getting ring from your traditional phone. But if your service requires your computer for the advent of call, you will be alerted by your service provider.

Can we adjust or regulate VoIP with FCC? In the month of June 2005, the FCC granted forcefully 911 obligations to all VoIP service providers. Generally, the users of VoIP services will make calls from their regular telephones and also will receive the call in the same manner only. However, some difference were made between in 911 calls using VoIP and 911 calls using regular telephone services. Regarding this for complete information you can verify the consumer fact sheet on VoIP and 911. Moreover, to meet the terms of FCC it requires interconnected VoIP providers with the Communication Assistance for Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (CALEA). In addition, the Universal Service Fund also supporting communications services in coastal areas and for high paid telephone subscribers. Such considerations will be caused for the new progress in internet technology without fail. Hence, you should be always checked with the VoIP service providers of your choice for the assurance of any advantages and limitations of their service.

Getting a Brand of GPS Watches that You Can Trust

By Joseph Aaron

Any time you encounter the name "Casio", the word "watch" quickly echoes in your mind, seeing as Casio continues to be one of the leading watch companies for this generation. The name is generally connected with its large-size watches, used by consumers from all walks of life. Another nice model is the Suunto Vector Wrist-Top Computer Watch.

Whenever you plan on shopping for a watch which is both well-designed and dependable as far as tracking the accurate time, then Casio must be the name for you. Casio timepieces are unique and are diverse enough to work with many individual life styles. However, the mention of words "Casio GPS watch" is not quite so familiar. What is a Casio GPS watch?

A Casio GPS watch is a watch for athletes which allows them to monitor their position and course, and also allowing them to observe their speed and distance for many different outdoor pastimes. Casio GPS watches are available in different types which meet the needs of the most discerning customers. For the use of interested customers, several of their most recent models are described below.

The Casio GPR- 100

The Casio GPR-100, the most compact GPS compatible chronometer, was introduced to the public in the last few months. Advertised as the world's smallest GPS capable watch, it comes with all the benefits found in each Casio watch as well as the cutting edge technology of a GPS. The GPR-100 is waterproof, which means it is perfect for swimming. It interfaces with GPS satellites to monitor speed and distance, while at the same time figuring your route for times when you leave your intended course. This watch also includes an automatic calendar, stop watch, alarm and backlit display for after dark. The GPR-100 is powered by a lithium battery whose life depends upon the battery capacity. However, since the battery is diminutive like the watch, it will only enable the GPS for only 2 to 4 hours. You may also want to look at the Suunto Vector Wrist-Top Computer Watch.

The PAT 2 GP-IV

The PAT 2 GP-IV employs a built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery. Intended as the new Satellite NAVI watch, it is manufactured to be a lot lighter and smaller than the first GPS watches. This watch's high-tech PC downloadable software allows the consumer to plot GPS data from the watch and analyze it in your personal computer. You can plot an initial latitude and longitude, a waypoint and destination point on the computer screen. Similar to the GPR 100, this timepiece is resistant to moisture such as dew, body fluids and other sources. The PAT 2 GP-IV watch, because it is small and light weight, isn't overly bulky and is not uncomfortable when strapped to the runner's arm. The rechargeable batteries remove the complications of continually buying batteries.

The Pro-Trek Navi Satellite

Presumed to be the first GPS watch, the Pro-Trek Navi Satellite GPS watch is equipped with a host of important advantages, such as a smaller size, rechargeable batteries and water resistant engineering. A lot of other useful features make this an ideal timepiece for athletes. Landmarks may be downloaded in the GPS function to mark sites. The Navi Satellite GPS will also keep satellite almanac data in its memory. This data can be accessed if needed to identify the exact coordinates of the satellite, thus preserving time and battery power. When the position of the satellite has been established, your position is easily calculated. The Suunto Vector Wrist-Top Computer Watch is another nice unit to consider.

The Casio GPS watches grant outdoor sports enthusiasts just what they want now that everyone's budget is tight; a well-made, intelligent electronic device which earns its keep. A Casio GPS watch is a chronometer, compass, GPS unit, and running partner who won't trail behind.

Hollywood Babble On

By Marcus Warner

As a personal assistant to a "B" actress, life tends to have its ups and downs. The ups come right after I get off work and the downs come when I walk in her Hollywood Hills mansion. Sometimes the downs come ringing to life at 3 AM with a shopping list. What does a bag of Kettle chips, band aids, Windex, and detachable erasers have in common? It boggles the mind. Try punching in an address into your GPS tracking device at 3 AM and see if you can stay awake.

Actors are fickle, that much anyone knows. But my boss is light years beyond fickle. She's a single parent with two kids, hanging on every call-back. That's understandable if you've got to make the mortgage on a mansion in the Hills. I just wish she wouldn't use me as her personal, emotional punching bag.

When I took the job, I thought all my Hollywood dreams would come true. I would get to meet famous people and schmooze my way into a film career. The problem is she doesn't introduce me to anyone. She only refers to me in the third person. "My assistant will get that for you." Thanks for the big break.

The amount of venom she spews my way is obscene. I'm still waiting for Emperor Nero to jump out of the bushes and smash me over the head with his fiddle. If her kids cry about anything, I get blamed. It must be the stress of watching mommy slide down from B actress to C has-been. It's a rough town, this Hollywood, but its even rougher when you're playing Hamlet to a has-been's ghost.

People think of her a "B" actress but her career has been in the gutter for the better part of a decade. She got lucky with a sitcom and hasn't been able to turn it into some bigger or better. I've accepted that I'm her foil -- her therapy. I'm her walking, talking punching bag -- and nurse. In the city of Angels, you've got to start somewhere.

Using a Broadband Speed Test

By Edward Dantes

With broadband connectivity found in most households and companies with small network scales; ISPs are looking for ways to give faster speeds than their competitors plus other special incentives in order to capture a larger market share.

The consumer market however, have to be sure that the kind of broadband connection they have truly is the best one in the industry and it's no longer acceptable that we simply rely on the data being given us by our ISPs. We need to check for ourselves just how fast is fast.

BROADBAND SPEED TESTS FOR FREE

It would appear that everything we need can be located in the World Wide Web and this includes free tests to see the rate of our broadband internet. There are a few sites that provide this broadband speed rate test and it's very easy to take.

What happens is that when we go to a certain website that offers this type of speed test, you will simply follow a couple of steps and then the test will start immediately online. We don't have to download or install any program.

The website will go on and try to download something to your computer and they will then continue to find out the speed upon which the download occurs. The similar steps are followed but this time, to see your upload speed. In a few minutes, you will get your results and you will already know if your broadband connection is as fast as your ISP claims.

WHY TAKE THE SPEED TEST?

Naturally, you would want to know the speed of your broadband internet for many reasons but perhaps the most vital of these is to see if your ISP is delivering the kind of service that they promised. As a consumer, you have the right to verify these kinds of things.

On the occasion that you are not happy with the speed test results, you can then search for other broadband service providers that will give you a better surfing experience. This works ideally for you because you would want to be paying for the type of service that you expect from an ISP.

Overall, broadband connection speed tests are there to help us determine the quality of our broadband connectivity.
