Three Tips On How To Fix A Water Damaged Phone

By Kerry M. Mora

Figuring out how to fix a water damaged phone can be challenging since there are a number of ways of going about it. Some ways are more efficient than others, and some require a longer time before they show results. All this is determined by how long you have before you will need your mobile to begin working again. You will find that there are 3 primary phone-drying strategies which will be pointed out in the following paragraphs: the cloth approach, the rice approach, as well as the alcohol approach.

Many people do not realize how important it is to NOT turn on the device after it is removed from the water. If there is any chance that the it may survive, that chance will diminish once it has been turned on.

The simple dry approach is the first technique that most people try. This is because it is the easiest. If the device was immersed into H2O for only a few seconds, this technique may work best. First, quickly take the battery and the sim card out of the device. Wrap each piece separately in a towel and let it sit by a fan for at least twelve to twenty-four hours.

The rice method has been the most popular method to recover a phone that has encountered liquid. This is because it has worked for most people. Quickly take the battery and sim card out of the device and place all of the pieces into a bag of rice. The rice will absorb any water in the bag and will eventually dry everything out. Keep all of the pieces in the rice for at least twelve hours.

The alcohol technique is the quickest way to fix it. Simply remove the battery and sim card, and immerse the everything into rubbing alcohol for about 5 minutes. Although this technique has been proven successful, it is not advisable to use in all situations.

One thing to keep in mind when using this strategy is that alcohol can chemically react with the plastic or erode the glue that keeps the everything together. It could also damage the image sensor (CCD or CMOS) if there is a camera attached to the device. The use of alcohol should be used as a last resort.

All mobile devices now have an indicator strip that informs the provider if the device was damaged by an encounter with H20. Sadly, most insurance policies and extended warranties will not pay for water damaged mobile phones. Although these solutions do not work in every situation, many people have discovered how to fix a water damaged phone with these simply techniques.
