Get Yourself a New Smartphone

By John Martin

Bravo - you have made the choice to purchase a brand new Smartphone for yourself. In order to help you make the right choice quickly and easily, here are some ideas and help about buying the best Smartphone for you. I appreciate that this might be a big decision for you.Everyone's situation is different. I trust that this will facilitate you to understand the vast amounts of information which is out there. I very much hope that it will enable you to make the right choice simply and easily.

Before starting, though, you might well like to ask yourself just what is a Smartphone in any case? Well, you can expect a device like this to include features such as a normal mobile phone, a personal organizer, internet access, e-mail facilities, text messaging, video, and much more.

Here are my top eight tips for choosing your Smartphone. Use them wisely:

1. The first question that you should ask your self is exactly how you intend to use this phone. Some people will want to use it for business whilst others will only want it for social networking. Business users will certainly have a very good idea of the set of programs which they are used to using in the office and these can be replicated on the Smartphone. Personal uses will be able to find a wide range of social networking programs which they may find very useful indeed.

2. Do you insist on using a conventional QWERTY keyboard or are you more comfortable with using a more modern pointing device? Consider the differing options which Smart phones present and select one which you are most comfortable with.

3. Go along to a store and have a play with a few different models. Concentrate, especially, on examining how the menus and navigation system works on each model. Try your best to avoid looking at all of those wonderful applications (for the moment, anyway) because you want to be able to feel comfortable when you are using the phone. After that, you can go on to consider applications and technological matters.

4. Do you insist on using a traditional QWERTY keyboard? Are you more comfortable with using a pointing device? Consider the different options which the different Smart phones offer and select one which you are most comfortable with.

5. There will, no doubt, the many types of applications which you want to consider when making your decision. This would include options such as the ability to surf around the Internet (perhaps by using your laptop by connecting to your Smartphone via a USB connection), create videos, and to send text messages. There is even the option to use the device as a portable navigational GPS system. It is a really good idea is to make a note of all of these different functions and decide which ones are essential and which ones you can live without. This is because you might have some limitations placed upon you because of cost.

6. I will now share with you a really simple but top tip. Take your device outside into the daylight and see how the screen reacts. This is because some phones have screens which you cannot read clearly if you're outside in bright sunshine. Some of them even struggle with ordinary daylight.

7. A very popular function for many people is taking photos with a phone. However, it could be a temptation to look at the technological aspect of the camera and video functions. A lot of people will look at the amount of megapixels as an example. This might not be the top way forward, though. A much better method to check out the camera is to actually take a snap with it and see how it looks. And another thing to do is to request the retailer for a print-out of the photo to see if it is good quality. If you're going to use the camera in doors a great deal then you should mull over buying a telephone with a built-in flash facility.

8. Taking photographs with a phone is a very popular function for many people. Now, it could be a temptation to look at the technical aspects of the video and camera application. A lot of people will look at the number of megapixels, for example. This might not be the best way forward, though. A much better way to check out the camera is to take a photograph with it and see how it looks. And another thing to do is to ask the shop for a printout of the photograph and see if it is good quality. Consider, also, buying a telephone with a built-in flash if you're going to use the camera in doors a great deal.

A standard function on the vast majority of today's phones is a good quality MP3 player. I would recommend buying your self a quality headset to go along with this function. The problem is that very often the earphones which are provided with the phone as standard can be poor quality and you will not get the most out of the MP3 player. And another point to remember is that you can buy add-on speakers so that you can use the device to make music wherever you want. Follow the above advice and tips and you should find that you can buy a Smartphone very easily and get the best one to suit your needs.
