The HTC Wildfire : A Short Guide

By Mark Walters

Most people like being able to keep up with the latest trends when it comes to technology. There have been many advances when it comes to cell phones in the past few years. The smartphone device has become a very popular mainstream device when it comes to cellular technology. HTC makes a lot of devices that are top of the line, and the HTC Wildfire is a great entry level smartphone. Here you will find a review of this phone.

If you have ever owned the HTC Desire then you might recognize this phone's design. It is similar in many ways and also shares some characteristics with the Nexus One. Despite the fact that it is designed to be an entry level smartphone it has much to offer. Features include a 582 MHz processor and 384 Mb of ram. The screen is a decent size with a 3.2" viewing area and the onboard camera takes pictures up to 5 megapixels.

The wildfire performs well, offering a variety of HTC proprietary widgets that allow you to maximize your communication needs. Friendstream allows you to keep up with all of the major social network sites and the music player supports a variety of formats. We suggest using headphones though because the external speaker leaves a little to be desired. The apps run smoothly most of the time and if there is something additional you need, simply find and download it from the android market.

For the most part, the apps run great but there are some occasional crashes. These are few and far between so it is not much of an issue. One area of special consideration for most people who use smartphones is the battery life. We found that under normal operating conditions that 12 hours of use could be obtained. The conditions under which this was tested included solely 3g connection and various tasks like making videos, picture taking, internet access and music playback.

In order to maintain a price point that is in line with other entry level phones, HTC uses a standard LCD screen. Despite this, there are no problems with the view. To sum it up, this phone is just what people who are new to smartphones need. People looking for a smartphone without a contract will find its low price advantageous. The HTC Wildfire offers many great features for its users at a price that is affordable.
