A Child Safety Tips Discussion and an Amber Alert GPS Are Both Important

By Carolyn Collins

I hope you have gotten an Amber Alert GPS Child Locator. If not, I will tell you how to do that in a moment. Whether you have, or not, now is the time to have a talk with your child about Child Abduction.

Often parents fear the talk will frighten the child. But, what frequently happens is that the child is almost relieved because they have questions they were hesitant to ask.

Topics for discussion should include the lost puppy trick, never going into a public bathroom alone, never talking to a stranger, getting into a strange car, staying in groups.

As part of your child safety tips talk, tell them to scream. Too many children have been scolded for screaming. Be sure yours understand if they are frightened, they should scream loud and long!

Does your child know how to reach you? Work numbers, cell phone numbers. Does he know how to call the police? How about his own phone number and address. Is he clear on those? If he is too young, or has trouble remembering, then help him learn where he can easily find those numbers. A good spot is written inside his back pack.

Included in this child safety tips talk should be a family emergency plan. What to do in case of a disaster. If you let the little ones give their ideas they will remember the plan better. If your family is of an age where persons are scattered, one good idea is to find them at the last place you saw them. If you dropped your son off at school, that is where he should wait for you, no matter where else he might have gone since you left him there.

Oh, yes, the Amber Alert. You've seen the one we have along our highways all across this nation. Now there is a personal size Amber Alert Gps child locator, that you can tuck into your child's pocket and track him on your cell phone to within 3 feet of his location.

Cheap Data Processing Made Possible Through Choosing Of Netbook Computers

By Nick Cantos

Netbook computers are the small nine to ten inch laptop computers that are being seen in many stores today. The concept of the netbook computer is not new, but technology to make them at an affordable price has increased their popularity.

At first glance, you may notice that there are several things that are missing from the netbook computer. The first you may notice is that there is no DVD or CD rom in this machine. Programs for these computers must be installed through use of a USB drive or downloaded from the internet.

Some of the small computers do not include a traditional hard drive, but depend on a solid state memory device, much like the memory in a USB thumb drive. This type of memory is more resilient than a hard drive and is smaller in size and lighter in weight than the typical hard drive. The one drawback is that you will not find a typical 160 GB hard drive in these small computers but may only find a 32 GB memory.

If more memory is needed, the Netbook can easily be connected to a USB external hard drive. Prices for external hard drives have also dropped recently. A one TB (1000 MB) external hard drive can easily be bought for $100 or less.

You will not find a phone modem capability for most of the smaller computers either, although all of these computers that are now being sold are equipped with WiFi connections. For home use, you will need a wireless router, but in public, the computer can access the web at almost any hot spot.

Originally netbook computers were sold with operating systems other than the current version of windows. For quite some time Windows NT was not offered on these little computers, although it was eventually offered. Now the netbooks are being sold with a netbook version of Windows 7.

Around Christmas of 2008, the price of netbook computers dropped to under the three hundred dollar mark. Black Friday of 2009 saw the prices drop to the one hundred fifty to one hundred seventy five dollar range.

The small size and weight of these computers makes the easy to carry either in a woman's handbag or a man's briefcase.

One of the things that has made these computers even more useful is that there have been many web based applications. Google has lead the way in many of the applications, allowing documents, photos and other data to be stored online. Since hard drive space is not required and data can be accessed by anyone with a password, work can be done on a desktop computer and accessed by the netbook.

With prices dropping and their small size, netbook computers are becoming a popular first computer for children. Younger children appreciate the smaller keyboards that make learning to keyboard easier for them. The online features make it possible for the children to play favorite video games, work online and prepare homework. Teens appreciate the small size that will easily fit into a backpack. Documents can be easily printed through any WiFi equipped computer.

Mobile allows millions of business people, students and regular internet users to access their bank accounts, friends, and info and personal data wherever there is a mobile phone signal. It's quick, easy and adds freedom to your life.

A dongle is a little stick that plugs in to the side of your PC. The Dongle is a modem which allows your laptop to talk to the Internet.

Laptop Broadband is the term people use to refer to the fact that the ultra competitive Mobile Phone Networks such as O2, Orange and 3 now offer free laptops with their Mobile Internet deals. You get to keep the laptop forever, do not have to pay up front and do not have to complete fiddly cash-back coupons and vouchers.

Everyone should be aware of the 3 points below, please make sure your mates don't get caught out by this next point:

1. Each Mobile Internet package comes with a certain amount of data you can use each month. Go over this and get stung hard, especially if using it outside the EU. 3 charge 6 per MB so that's 6000 for a GB of data - about a day or two's casual surfing. And 3 are the second cheapest!

2. I got the best deal I could find -15GB of data per month for just 15, however, do not get what I got!

For 2.50 per month more you can get a brand spanking proper laptop worth 300 or 400. Considering you could replace your land line and existing broadband for this price and get a new laptop as well, it might be worth looking at.

3. 3 came out as the big winners in the Broadband Expert 2008 Mobile Broadband Awards:

And if you get your mobile deal through 3 as well you also get 25% off your 3 mobile internet package, and you can get free Skype to Skype calls too - see below for links to more info.
