Watch Satellite TV on PC - Watch Satellite TV on The Computer

By Chris Jensen

Have you heard of TV on the computer? Sounds cool, isn't it? Watching satellite TV on a PC is watching it through the internet. In doing so, all you need is a PC satellite TV software and of course a PC. The PC is configured to receive satellite signals. Such signals will then appear to your PC monitor. Anyone who has internet connection can benefit from this latest innovation. Having a wireless router can also make your laptop a satellite TV, and therefore making it a mobile satellite TV. A breakthrough like this is simply astounding.

TV on the computer has its flaws as well. With watching satellite TV through a provider, the main disadvantage is the monthly bill. In addition, you may end up paying for the basic satellite TV equipment at the start which include the dish, receivers and other peripherals like HDTV and DVR receivers especially if your subscription contract is shorter.

The basic package usually offers about a hundred channels, but a more expensive package offers more channels. Providers also offer promo packages such as pay-per-view or pay TV but would most likely increase your monthly bill.

You can take advantage of the convenience that watching TV on the computer can bring if you want to break the monotony of your work. Thousands of channels in different languages worldwide can be viewed through the internet satellite TV. With this technology, absolutely no other equipment is needed. A downloadable, affordable software worth less than $50, and a PC is all you need to achieve the greatest number of channels ever.

Traditional Television has eventually become a thing of the past. Satellite TV on a PC is inevitably the latest revolution in TV technology, and will certainly be around for a long time.

Easy Steps to Setting Up a Wireless Network

By Feliciano Mulen

Switching from wired to a wireless Internet connection can make much of your use a computer much more enjoyable. This can be done with a wireless router. With a wireless router you can free you and family members from the confines of a desk and allow access Internet from anywhere in your home without the wires. You can do it and here is how.

Now do you have broadband connection such as ADSL or Cable? If you do then you already have the modem. If you don't, then you are probably using 56k modem. Most people tend not to setup wireless for a 56k modem but it is possible but not really practical. Okay, next you would need wireless router and a few wireless network adaptor depending on the number of PC you want on your network.

Before you buy a wireless router you should try to understand the different kinds of wireless or Wi-Fi. There are four types, 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n. If it's a 802.11a, don't get it. They're not really used anymore. The main types used today are 802.11b and 802.11g. They both have better wireless range than 802.11a which is why they better. The difference between wireless B and G is their data transfer rate. B has a limited at 11Mb/s while G has 54Mb/s transfer rate. Wireless G however, is generally used over B as it can work in send signals as both B or G. Wireless N is the newer of the four and has twice the range of G and a transfer rate of up to 144Mb/s and also the most expensive of the four types and decrease from G to B. The best choose is to get wireless G.

After you decide on the type of wireless router you want, you should get wireless adaptors that would work with the router. Also you should check if your computers if it has one built-in and is compatible with the router you are buying. You would need an wireless adaptor for the computers that you want access on your wireless network. Install them in and use the proper software provided with the adaptor and the manual that it came with it.

To set up the router, you should not throw the instructions out as you will need them later. Keep them in case you forget something. It is best if you follow the instruction manual but here is the simple version of it.First power down your DSL or cable modem and disconnect it from your computer. Connect the modem to your wireless router. From the purchase of the wireless router, you should have a short cable. This is your network cable. Connect the network cable to the wireless router in the port labeled as either , WLAN, WAN, or Internet. It depends on brand of router you bought. Then connect that the Internet connection cable to the modem and reconnect your computer to the wireless router and power the modem back on.

Your devices with built-in wireless and those with the wireless adaptors should be able to detect the wireless router but don't connect any devices through wireless just yet. Open you Internet browser on computer that is connected to the router. There should be a be an address that came with the router and type it in the address bar. A window should that prompts for a password. It should come with the router as will. After entering the password it should take you to the configuration page for your wireless router.

On the configuration page you can give your network a name. Pick something the hard to guess for security reasons but should be something you can remember and type this in the SSID section. There should be a section that asks for a WEP or a WPA choose one and it should prompt you to enter an administrator password or a router password. It should be remember but random to prevent hackers from getting on to your network. You should be done with that. You can unwire your computer if you wish switch to wireless. Now your other computers, laptops and other devices on your network and have wireless Internet. All you have to do is type the network name and password or the the network connection page on your devices. That is all you have to do.

Tips For Improving Your Broadband Connection Speed

By Shelly Linger

Having a fast online connection is becoming less of a luxury. Websites are using more advanced technologies and platforms from which to deliver content. In a text-based world, a dial-up modem might suffice. However, large videos, games, and space-intensive documents require a larger pipe and faster transmission.

While those who subscribe to DSL and cable services enjoy quick surfing and downloading, there are tactics that can further increase their throughput. In this article, we'll provide three useful tips for improving your broadband connection speed.

Tip 1- Use A Web Accelerator

Internet download accelerators automate many of the system tweaks you would otherwise perform manually. For example, they might make changes to your computer's registry or browser, maintain a fresh cache of specific content that you access regularly, and even compress documents. Some web accelerators will filter out third-party ads, optimize a web page's underlying HTML, and resolve domain names linked in a document. Each of these actions can incrementally improve the speed with which you surf online.

Tip 2 - Lower Your Latency

Whenever data is transmitted from one point to another, there is a fractional time delay. The greater the delay, the slower the transmission of data. Your computer is configured with a default latency represented by a request buffer. If you increase that buffer, you can lower your local area network's latency and thereby, increase the rate of data transmission. There is one important factor to keep in mind: in order to increase your computer's default request buffer, you must have a sufficient level of memory available.

Tip 3 - Modify The Registry

Most people don't realize there is a Registry in their Windows machine that performs a seemingly endless number of functions. One of those functions influences your broadband connection. There are a number of configured protocols that you can modify which can potentially improve your online access speed.

For example, the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) controls packet size. If you increase the MTU, you can reduce the number of packets your computer transmits. The Maximum Segment Size (MSS) is similar to the MTU; it represents the packet size that can be received by your computer. Again, the larger the packet, the fewer packets that must be transmitted.

Increasing Your Broadband Speed Organically

There are software packages you can purchase that can incrementally improve your online access speed. You can also replace certain hardware (for example, your processor) for a mild boost. However, before you invest in such software or hardware, try the speed tweaks described above. You can find a number of robust web accelerators online. Plus, you can perform the latency and Registry modifications for free.

A quick aside: the tweaks in this article are not guaranteed to improve your broadband connection's throughput rate. There are many variables involved and it is impossible to predict the effectiveness of each tweak without a thorough examination of your computer. That said, the suggestions above are a fantastic place to start.

Phones Freedom As Vodaphone Buys BT Fixed Line Business For 4.1 Million

By Jasim Crouch

Home and small business customers with BT will have there accounts transferred to Vodafone. They will now be tied to Vodaphone under a deal announced between the two firms, and will not be able to end their existing contracts once the move takes place.

British Telecom has left the home retail telephone and broadband market. Its 84,000 home consumers will soon be part of Vodafone's fixed-line customer base. Its additional 3,000 BT small business customers will also be transferred to Vodafone's existing fixed-line service in coming months.

Vodafone's total fixed-line customer base increases to more than 170,000 customers with this deal, making it the second-biggest player in the Irish telecommunications market after Eircom. Vodafone will also increase to having 15 percent of the country's fixed-line broadband internet consumers.

This agreement which is still needing clearance from the Competition Authority, also includes an commitment from British Telecom to upgrade a further 58 phone exchanges around the republic. In doing this it can allow more of the population to access its modern high-speed internet services.

BT has already unbundled 22 exchanges. BT will sell the wholesale broadband capacity to Vodafone, which will in turn market it to fixed-line customers.

This part of the deal will make further impact on revenue at Eircom, challenging the already embattled telecoms company. Of BT's 84,000 home users, about 80pc of them use broadband services that BT buys from Eircom at a wholesale basis. Once these new exchanges are upgraded by BT, the amount of wholesale fixed-line internet services that Vodafone will have to source from Eircom will drastically decline

How Do You Find A Good Pay-As-You-Go Mobile Broadband Tariff?

By Steve Johnston

It's definitely worth making the effort to compare mobile broadband tariffs when you're looking for the best pay-as-you-go mobile broadband package. There are some small but very important differences between the offers from each of the providers, and the right deal for you will depend on the way in which you plan to use your mobile broadband connection.

The term "tariff" refers to the amount that you pay for a certain amount of data transfer, over a certain amount of time. This isn't as complicated as it sounds and works in just the same way as a pay-as-you-go mobile phone tariff does, except that instead of paying for minutes of call time, you pay for gigabytes of data download and upload, to and from the internet.

To use mobile broadband, you need a USB dongle, which plugs into the side of your laptop, or desktop computer and provides access to the mobile network and your internet connection. With a pay-as-you-go deal, you'll have to buy this dongle to start with, and then top-up with credit to start using it. A dongle will usually cost around 20 - 30 as a one-off set-up cost.

The most complicated pay-as-you-go mobile broadband tariff is possibly that of 3 Mobile, who have three different tariffs, depending on the amount of credit that you purchase. Their best value tariff is 7GB of data for a 25 top-up, whilst their other top-up options are 15 for 3GB and 10 for a single gigabyte. Even the latter of these is reasonably priced when compared to the top-up tariffs of other providers.

3 are also currently offering two "starter kit" packages, where you buy the USB dongle and some start-up credit for a set cost. These can be good as gifts or for students heading off to university, as the credit lasts longer than the usual month allowed by 3 before top-ups expire. The cheaper of these has 3GB of data credit included, which lasts for 3 months before it expires.

You can also get a deal with the Dongle and 12GB of allowance for 97.86 where the data allowance last 12 months. When you compare mobile broadband tariffs this is a good one to think about if you want to make a one off payment and not worry about your data allowance expiring

You should also think about T-Mobile when you compare mobile broadband tariffs for pay-as-you-go deals. They have a very flexible top-up system, which will allow you to top up daily, weekly, or monthly at 2, 7, or 15. This is based on a fair usage limit of 3GB per month and is distributed pro-rata for the daily and weekly top-ups. The USB dongle cost is 24.46 at the time of writing, which is a one-off set-up cost and around about average at the moment.

Vodafone is a little more expensive at 15 per GB but the great thing about Vodafone is that there is no expiry limit on the download allowance so you can use your time on the internet as slowly as you like. The kind of people who only use the internet occasionally should consider Vodafone when they compare mobile broadband tariffs, as you can use the internet whenever you like without having to buy new download credit each month.

Using Mobile Email Effectively

By Greg Black

Mobile email solutions have created an environment in which the ability to communicate with friends and relatives or customers and teammates does not have to be locked down to a single computer or even a single location. These days you can take your personal or business email with you no matter where you go. But just because you have it with you, are you sure you're using mobile email effectively?

There are a wide range of options and solutions that an email hosting company can offer a customer to access email. Traditionally, emails are accessed through a computer application or through a web browser. Now days, there are several options available for receiving emails with mobile email being one of those options. A mobile email user can do just about everything a user sitting at a computer can do. You can read, write, edit and delete emails from your mobile device. Mobile devices offer users more options to stay connected no matter where they go.

Some email hosting providers offer new solutions and benefits to mobile email users to make things even more convenient, but you must be aware of these options and have the phone properly set up to take advantage of them. For example, some providers offer a "new mail" alert that they will send to a user whenever a new message arrives. However, if your phone or other device is not set up to accept these alerts, you will not be able to take advantage of this particular convenience.

Handheld devices can do so much more than just accept mobile email. You can easily set it up to sync to your computer and take advantage of other features that come with your mobile email solution. Some of these include shared messages, shared calendars, and business contacts lists.

Part of having a mobile email service and using it properly is knowing when to quit. Just because you have a handheld and take your email everywhere doesn't mean that you should be viewing and sending messages. It is vital to determine what are the real problems and what can wait until you get back into the office. Knowing what is important and what can wait can really give you peace and remove the burden that you carry by running a business or a division of a business. I mean, sometimes you just need to escape from the office and put your worries aside.

Be Productive With a GPS Fish Finder

By Daniel Stouffer

It is estimated that more than 60 million people participate in one of our more popular pastimes -- fishing. Those countless hours of patiently waiting are also estimated to make a significant contribution to the economy. Whilst the sport is supposed to be very therapeutic and relaxing, and many people are happy just to catch what they may, there is also a serious side to fishing and some will go to whatever lengths are required to be productive. When productivity is required, a GPS fish finder is very beneficial.

There are a range of products available on the market to help you pinpoint the location of shoals of fish. Using modern day technology, a GPS fish finder helps at all levels of expertise. You should know that there are significant differences between models, ranging from basic needs all the way through to top of the range models for professionals.

Three things are very important when you are setting out to hunt for fish. Make sure that your GPS fish finder gives you information on distance, speed and temperature.

You can give yourself a much better chance of success when it came to fishing if you can determine the temperature of the water. Often fish will not spawn unless the temperature is within a certain range and most of the better GPS fish finder models come with a temperature gauge allowing you to determine the temp according to the better parameters.

One of the major advantages of a GPS fish finder is that it can accurately triangulate your position. GPS technology works of course by analyzing the transmission of radio frequency waves between your location and satellites in Earth orbit. At the least, this can be a great safety aid for you as you always know where you are with a high degree of accuracy.

When you are spending a day on the open water you want to be sure that you get the best results. When trolling for fish you need to maintain a certain speed and the GPS fish finder will give you accurate information to give you the best chance of success.

After you have been fishing for some time you will get a good idea where the fish are. A GPS fish finder can really help you as it can give accurate distance measurements between your home port and these great locations. Your favorite positions can be registered in the device's memory allowing you to pull this data up and navigate right there.

The higher end GPS fish finder includes definitive chart plotting capabilities as well as sonar. Highly accurate maps of the coastline and inland lakes and rivers can be displayed on specially designed color screens which can be viewed in bright sunlight. These devices are compatible with many other onboard navigational, safety and fishing aids. They can be mounted on the dash, or on the transom to suit you best.

Satellite PC Box - Watch Satellite TV Online

By Chris Jensen

Making a big buzz these days in the television and entertainment field is the satellite tv on a PC software. You can now watch satellite TV online. Although the tech savvy people these days are capable of getting access to free satellite technology for free, such an act is basically illegal. As much as it feels good to get something without the burden of our pockets, abiding by the law is still the most honorable thing to do.

With the growing popularity of online satellite tv, tons of Satellite Tv On Pc Software programs have come out that it's already difficult for us to distinguish which software is the best. They all have colorful promises but the only way to prove such promises is to buy the product. Therefore it is best to define what makes an online satellite tv software reliable.

The most commonly employed technique in finding the best software so you can watch satellite TV online is to do a comprehensive online search about it. There are numerous sites that promote this brand and that brand, so a better thing is to search for as many reviews as you can for you to be able to weigh the advantages and disadvantages in purchasing the software.

Asking opinions or ideas from close circle of friends will also be a better help in the sense that these people are people you know personally and they certainly would not let you down. In specific aspects as this, asking what other people think is more important than following our instincts.

Another major thing to consider in hunting for the best deals over the internet for softwares that will enable you to watch satellite TV is the speed or swiftness of the software business entity in sending the downloadable software. A reliable Satellite Tv On Pc Software is one that is readily downloadable already as soon as you have made the payment. Waiting for days for the software is not the equivalent consequence of your money. If you want to watch satellite TV online you need to invest on a product or software that can deliver good service and unmatched customer care.

Waterproof GPS Handhelds - Benefiting Modern Sportsmen With Practical Features

By Alice Rea

GPS handhelds also benefits those who are fond of water activities like boating and kayaking. They can experience the basic features of waterproof GPS handhelds like calculating how far one location from another is, and displaying the latitude and longitude coordinates in a map.

Sportsmen that are focused in water activities like kayaking and canoeing can benefit from this. They can now enjoy the basic features of waterproof GPS handhelds, calculate distance between points, and have a map display according to latitude and longitude coordinates.

Some features should be understood before buying waterproof GPS handhelds, as they can be found in its specifications, and worth the comparison among models. Such features are also suitable for older and non-waterproof units.

Some characteristics should be known before buying waterproof GPS handhelds. Such characteristics are used in specifications sheet, and are good comparison points between units. The following characteristics are not only applicable for waterproof units, but also to non-waterproof handhelds.

Waypoints: It is also called POI or Points of Interest. Waypoints are useful in storing landmarks and important locations along the trip. Sportsmen can store data about the location of their last campsite, or the coordinates where they changed directions. Some units can store 1000 waypoints, but for common usage, 500 will be enough. Waypoints are analogous to tree markings implemented by past sportsmen when in a forest. In addition, GPS units can do calculations on two waypoint data, or delete past waypoints to free some memory for another. Sophisticated units have the feature to exchange waypoint data among GPS handhelds, allowing sportsmen to share their experience and past routes.

Topographical Maps: Most GPS can electronically display 2D or 3D maps, but older models do not. For such models, plotters will be required to have a printout of the map. Advanced models can go beyond normal topographic information by implementing Digital Elevation Model technology, commonly called as DEM. It is a feature to have better visualization of contours at different zoom levels. Moreover, handhelds can store new maps by accessing data cards and compact discs.

Wide Area Augmentation System: Commonly known as WAAS, augmentation system corrects the signal received by the GPS for distances beyond 10 feet. Enabling WAAS can increase accuracy up to five times.

Advanced features of waterproof GPS handhelds include touch screen display, switch controls for various activities, expansion slots, and digital compasses. High-end units have the feature to display water depth, harbors, and other marine information. Some also comes in floatable packages for easy retrieval when dropped in water. In addition, some unit incorporates GPS with two-way radios, enabling sportsmen to have a 5-mile range communication. However, such units should first acquire FCC license before using to ensure that it will not interfere with other electronic device.

Flexible Motorcycle GPS Systems for the Open Road

By Daniel Stouffer

The motorcycle epitomizes the freedom of the road. Choose a motorcycle GPS system and enhance that freedom many fold. Traditionally, motorcycle riders do not enjoy as much flexibility as their car-based counterparts. Let's face it, there is more room within a car for driver and navigator aids and as the environment is somewhat closed it is often easier to interact with your gadgetry.

There are a variety of different motorcycle GPS systems on the market and your selection will be dictated by your needs. For example, if you use your motorcycle in your job as a courier you should not select items which are designed for portability in the outdoors. Those who like to go off into the unknown will like a unit that can be carried on your person as you venture off onto the nature trail. Still further solutions exist incorporating hybrid models with PDA functionality.

If pinpoint accuracy is important to you, select a motorcycle GPS system using the latest technology. For example, the Garmin Quest 2 can supply you with position accuracy up to 9 feet. If you ride within heavily forested parts of the country often, you might want to consider a unit with an external power antenna and powered by one of the latest sensitive chipsets.

Sometimes you want to keep your motorcycle GPS system mounted permanently to your machine. Some of the latest developments should be of great interest to you. The TomTom Rider features a specially designed antiglare screen and also allows you to interact with the touch screen even when wearing gloves. Latest innovations allow you to hear the spoken instructions through a headset fitted within your helmet by using the built-in Bluetooth audio system to transmit from your unit.

Battery power can be an important consideration when you are selecting motorcycle GPS systems. Regular batteries may only last a certain amount of time and you should consider upgrading to rechargeable products.

Most of the latest motorcycle GPS systems have been designed specifically for this environment. They are weatherproof, have tough outer casings and linings and come complete with a shockproof mount which is designed to absorb the wear and tear of our bumpy streets and roads. Remember that the motorcycle is not as cushioned as the regular family car, so you should look for a vibration monitoring system at all times.

Traveling with groups is fun when riding and you can explore the possibilities for two-way communication these days. Did you also know that a system exists which can display the location of other riders in your group on your screen?

When you are ready to select motorcycle GPS systems make sure that you accurately assess your particular needs. You can choose interesting features such as real-time and on-demand traffic information, in helmet voice, hands-free phone, but you should always find out how easy the device is to update, as well, of course, as its overall cost.

How To Research The Best Mobile Broadband Deals

By James Nettleton

Hunting for the best mobile broadband deals can often seem like a complicated task, with all the technical jargon and numerous things to take into consideration. With just a little knowledge, however, you'll feel much more confident about finding the right deal.

A major concern is the coverage area of each of the mobile broadband service providers. You'll usually find that mobile broadband is accessible wherever you can get a mobile phone signal, but the speeds will vary and true broadband speeds are only available in 3g areas. As you'd imagine, cities are well covered and rural areas less so.

Most mobile broadband providers have coverage checkers that allow you to test their signal in your area. As companies are rapidly upgrading coverage areas, this factor may not be so important in the future, but it is still worth checking before you start your search for the best mobile broadband deals.

The speeds that you achieve with your mobile broadband connection can be effected when you use it whilst travelling in a car or on a train. Moving between coverage areas can cause momentary signal drop-outs and slow your connection down considerably.

Check the tech blogs, review sites and news for road-tests of mobile broadband services to see which ones perform the best while on the go.

If you're intending to use your service overseas, you'll need to know two things: firstly, does your provider offer an overseas service at all (not all do); Also, make sure you read the details about the charges for use abroad, as they can be pretty steep.

There are two types of payment plans for mobile broadband and the best mobile broadband deals will depend on which of these suits your needs best. These are Contract Mobile Broadband and Pay As You Go (or PAYG) Mobile Broadband.

The Pay As You Go option works in very much the same way as it does for mobile phones. You buy a USB dongle (the miniature modem which you plug into the side of your laptop) and top it up with credit depending on how much you intend to use. Just as with mobile phones, you can top up at any time and add more credit to your dongle. The credit is used up as you download, browse, send emails, or use you connection in any way and when your credit is gone, the connection will simply stop working until you top-up again.

If you decide to go for Contract Mobile Broadband, you'll need to be careful not to exceed your monthly limit, as usage outside of your agreed contract can be very expensive with some of the providers. You can, however, monitor how much you have used for the month and limit your use accordingly, so as to avoid these charges. Contracts are generally between a year and two years in length, although some are as little as one month.

Contract providers will throw in the dongle free, and some services even offer a free laptop, so take this into consideration when scanning for the best mobile broadband deals.

Be sure to research the cost and quality of these free laptops before you make any decisions. These contracts are often a bit more expensive and if you decide to go for one of them, you should know that you're getting a good deal first.

There are only a handful of providers of mobile broadband in the UK, and these are pretty much the same networks that provide mobile phone coverage: T-Mobile, O2, Virgin Mobile, 3 Mobile, Orange, Vodafone and now also BT. Your next task is to find the best mobile broadband deals offered by each of these providers and compare them using the knowledge you now have about the mobile broadband system.

Finding the best mobile broadband deals involves a little bit of effort but it's well worth it to ensure that you find one that suits you.

Considering Mobile Broadband? Make Sure You Consider Coverage Too

By Steve Johnston

Mobile broadband coverage refers to the areas serviced by a mobile network signal. The term is often also used to describe the quality of the signal in a given area or the technologies available to a specific area (such as 2G, 3G, etc.). As you might imagine, this is vital for a mobile broadband connection - without coverage for your area, you won't get any service, and you wouldn't want to end up paying for a service that you can't actually use!

Over 99% of the UK is now covered by the mobile networks, which makes it pretty unlikely that you'll find yourself somewhere with absolutely no signal whatsoever. This is one of the advantages of living on a small, well populated island!

Before you rush off and sign up for any old mobile broadband deal, you need to know that not all coverage is equal. If you're hoping to get true broadband speeds, which will enable you to stream video, quickly download music tracks, and send large email attachments, you're going to need 3G or HSDPA coverage (depending on the network you go with). Make sure that you check the coverage maps for a provider before you sign up for a contract deal with them.

Pay-as-you-go mobile broadband plans are a good way to reduce the risk of signing up with a poorly performing network. You can now pick up a USB modem at a fairly low price, buy a top-up and see how well it works without committing to a pay-monthly contract.

However, the major providers know that general concerns about mobile broadband coverage and performance can often be deal-breakers for people who are thinking about trying their mobile broadband services. To combat this, they now offer trial periods, within which you can get out of your contract if the service doesn't work for you. If this option is available to you, it's by far the best way to try a provider out before committing long-term.

You should also consider some of the other things that may affect mobile broadband coverage in your area. Much like a mobile phone signal, your mobile broadband signal can be affected by trees, hills, buildings and weather conditions. If you know anyone who already uses mobile broadband in your area, it's a good idea to ask how fast and reliable they find the service before making the decision about which provider to go with.

The major networks are all clamouring to become the market leaders, which means that they're putting plenty of cash into building bigger and better infrastructures in order to improve and expand their mobile broadband coverage. Thanks to this and fact that the providers pay a huge amount of money in licensing fees for this technology, we can expect to see massive improvements in the coverage and reliability offered for high speed mobile internet connection via the mobile networks over the next few years. Many are even predicting that mobile broadband will quickly overtake the landline version in the not-to-distant future.

How GPS For Cars Gives You Freedom To Drive

By Daniel Stouffer

Technological advances over the last couple of decades have helped the humble automobile transition from workhorse to a provider of comfort, luxury and ease. When you jump into a car you open up a wealth of options to assist us with your needs. Wireless communication technology helps to ensure that our journey is made more efficient through the use of a global positioning system.

The GPS, global positioning system, was originally developed for the Armed Forces. However, GPS for cars, originally introduced as a basic device to search for a particular location on a map, has become quite sophisticated and is now a great navigational aid.

GPS for cars works by monitoring a number of dedicated satellites high above the Earth's orbit. 24 different satellites revolve around the globe twice per day and the satellites are monitored by ground stations at various locations. These ground stations basically verify and monitor signals and messages from the satellites. Once the data is verified, it can be received by receivers installed within each vehicle.

Signals received from the satellites are interpreted by software installed within GPS for cars. The actual position of the vehicle is determined according to the location of the satellite and the time it takes for the signal to reach the associated receiver. Triangulation is used to determine a highly accurate position as three satellites will pin point. The ultimate level of accuracy is provided through the use of atomic clock synchronization between the GPS system and the satellites.

It is no surprise that GPS for cars is so popular. Apart from the fact that we simply want to find the best route to a destination through our complex road system network, the software is very good at giving us the optimum distance and route on-the-go and as we drive. Time is of the essence in all things these days and this system accurately calculates the amount of time necessary to get to a particular destination. When digitally linked to information providers, we are also able to see where traffic problems may delay us and make alternative arrangements.

Retailers often provide GPS for cars as a standard item, although you should know that some of the better units are available through independent retailers. These days, units can be configured in so many different ways and there is something available to suit every budget.

Technology can come to your assistance when you really need it. Should you be in the unfortunate position of having your automobile stolen, GPS for cars can come to your help. Complete information can be gleaned according to the destinations, speed and duration of the trip.

Remember some handy tips when considering GPS for cars. Firstly, always program you're route before you leave for your destination. This is preferable as you will get the most efficient route from start to finish. Secondly, don't try and make modifications when you are driving, as it can be dangerous. Pay all your attention to the road ahead. The software will give you adequate warning of any impending direction changes and has been specifically designed to take into account multiple lane changes and the potential for confusion around busier intersections.

Learn More About Wireless Phone Plans

By Gareth J. Reese

Most people find wireless phone plans very confusing. Even those who are technically savvy do. My friend who works at a call center for T-Mobile surprised me with the complexity of the customer care software she uses. I don't mean to sound cocky but I am an embedded programmer which is the person who writes the programs that make cell phones work.

If you are a non-technical consumer looking to find the best fit in a wireless phone plan, no one will blame you for feeling confused. Picking a cell phone generally speaking is not difficult. But knowing which plan to pick can be a frustrating task that often leads to head ache.

The purpose of this article then is to offer some guidelines for selecting the ideal wireless phone plan in the United States. By "ideal" I mean the one that meets your on-the-go communication needs and suits your budget. It is not that difficult which is why the article is short. So let's get started, shall we?

Step 1 Understand that in most areas throughout the US as many as five providers compete for cellular phone services. Each of these providers offers several wireless phone plans that you can take into account.

Step 2 Know what "coverage" means and how much of it you deem essential. Coverage means a couple of things, really. It means where you call... Are the numbers you call local? Are they within your State but long distance? Are they, State to State? Are they long distance International? It also means, how much you move around... Do you roam from city to city a lot? As you can see, the wireless plan that you select must have good rates for the area and country codes that you call so that your lifestyle doesn't take its toll on your wallet.

Step 3 Consider how many minutes you plan to talk for each month. If you don't know, an easy way to find out is by looking at bills or prepaid card receipts from past months. This is an important statistic so it's worth putting some thought into it.

Step 4 Throw a glance at your cellular hand-held device now. If it is an entry-level phone then you probably want it for voice communication only. But if it is one of the higher-end cell phones with a touch screen and camera, you will likely be doing a lot of text messaging and sending/receiving emails. Not to mention Internet browsing. So you need to find economical rates for data transmission.

Step 5 Keep in mind that providers of wireless phone plans will often give you a discount if you purchase their plan. The best wireless plans have either one or two year contracts, as a rule of thumb. Be sure that you understand the Terms and Conditions of your contract in case you ever need to break it. More often than not, the penalty equals the monthly flat fee times the number of months left on the contract. You do not want to pay two hundred dollars or more just to cancel your service.

Step 6 Start your search at TMI Wireless and save time. This can easily be your one-stop station for your wireless needs. There you will find the latest phones and the plans from the nation's top wireless providers laid out in a logical way that is pure joy to navigate. In addition to cell phones, TMI Wireless also offers alarm systems, satellite systems and more. Take your time in browsing through this online store.

I sincerely hope that you got a lot out of this article and that it did not have serious omissions since I wrote it in haste. If you want to learn more general information about cell phones and wireless phone plans, there are many easy-to-read books on the subject that you will have no trouble finding in book store chains. But this is probably more than what you want for the time being, especially, if you want service immediately.

How To Hone In On The Ideal Wireless Phone Plan Without Stress

By Myia Russow

There is a multitude of companies, wireless phone plans and rates to choose from. Whether you are a first-time consumer, are upgrading to a new phone or considering a new plan, it's a good idea to carefully research your purchase. You can pick from family plans, prepaid time cards and personalized plans to meed your unique requirements. The purpose of this article is to help guide you through the large amount of choices. Suggestions are offered to help you decide which cell phone and cell phone plan is suitable for you.

The following are some suggestions to consider when researching a cell phone and cell phone plans purchase:

1. Cost

Digital technology and miniaturization allows a cell phone to function as a camera while fitting loosely in your pocket. Although prices constantly drop, some top of the line phones can be very expensive. To further drive up the cost of your cell phone purchase, there are numerous cell phone accessories that are essential to the safe operation of the unit and some which are simply frills.

If money is limited but you need a good phone and corresponding cell phone plan, many companies offer cell phones free of charge for signing a plan contract. Such plans were referred to as contracts previously and most of them were 3 years long or more. This no longer applies. Many companies like Verizon, T-Mobile and Nextel will provide a phone for free and won't insist on a lengthy commitment.

2. Reliability

Dependable service is one of the most important things to look into when choosing a cell phone. Why own a cell phone that is not reliable? Many cell phone companies advertise that they provide the best cell phone service but unfortunately this isn't always true. Make sure that you deal with reliable providers providers of wireless phone plans such as T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon.

3. Rate Plan Flexibility

The wireless phone plan choices are many... family plans, call home plans, free included cell phones and prepaid cell phones. Which one is right for you? It depends on your lifestyle, really. If your cell phone is your primary phone and you spend much time talking, then the plan should reflect this. A family plan is great if you have children and you want to control how long they use it for. Perhaps you need to call a certain phone number regularly, then a "call home" plan is the choice that serves your needs best. Do some research to find the best fit possible. You no longer have to fit a cell phone plan; companies like as Verizon and AT&T make sure that the cellular phone services fit you.

4. Style

Face plates are often used as a cell phone accessory. Motorola, for example carries a cell phone face plate that features a major league hockey team. If you love color and need to match your cell phone to your sports car that is possible too. Another cell phone accessory is the cell mate. It lets you dress up your cell phone. Ashley Judd apparently had many different plush covers on her cell phones. These items are available from a limited number of cell phone manufacturers and partners. Type your brand of cellphone and "cell mate" into your favorite search engine to find a unique cover for your cell phone.

The Choice Is Yours - The Sky's The Limit

As you can see, there are lots to look for when shopping for a new cell phone. This piece of writing offers one way of narrowing down the selection process. If it saved you time and contributed in helping you find what you wanted, then it was definitely worth it.

IPTV Technology - The Top 10 Facts!

By Jason Smythe

Is IPTV technology everything it's cracked up to be, or is it here today and gone tomorrow?

Here are 10 important facts and advantages about IPTV. Hopefully this information can help you decide whether or not you are ready for the IPTV revolution.

1. IPTV stands for Internet protocol television and is fast becoming the technology of choice for the transportation of data information and Audio and Video (AV), across an IP based digital network. This IP network could include Ethernet, WAN, LAN or internet. If a set top box (STB) is added to the equation, AV sources can then be streamed across existing networks to PCs or TVs. The IPTV network can be one to one (Unicast) or one to many (Multicast).

2. According to recent research findings, at present 15.5 million people subscribe to IPTV services, 8.4 million of these subscribers are from Europe.

3. IPTV systems avoid interruption of critical networks by utilising a separate video LAN.

4. Digital video has high bandwidth requirements and hence IPTV requires broadband Internet connectivity. In theory, accessing the high speed internet would allow IPTV users far greater control over their television programming and full customization facilities it to their individual preferences.

5. The ever popular Free-view channels are delivered without Terrestrial or SAT receivers being a requirement.

6. For additional revenue in hotels, local content, sport and films can be added, or offered free of charge to a student campus.

7. Predictions are that compared to the current 3.3 million IPTV subscribers in the United States now, there will be around 12.7 million IPTV users by 2012.

8. The addition of set top boxes (STB) allow AV sources to be streamed across existing networks to PCs or TVs.

9. IPTV based networks are pretty much immune to ghosting, noise, harmonics, cross modulation, reflections etc - annoying problems that are all too common in traditional analogue systems.

10. Due to its storage facility, IPTV systems allow all programs to be later retrieved from the IPTV network.

A Novel Use of IPTV Technology

A great and novel example of how IPTV technology is being used in increasingly useful ways, is with a stunningly practical, IP enabled waterproof bathroom television. These IPTV televisions are the ultimate in bathroom luxury, allowing viewers to safely enjoy their favourite TV programme from the comfort of their bath or shower.

These products offer a convenient and simple solution to hotels worldwide who are embracing the installation of digital IPTV networks across their properties. No longer will they have to hide an STB in the void behind the bathroom or shower wall and run a separate IR receiver, but instead simply feed an Ethernet cable into the back of the screen to deliver TV, Radio, VOD and other services which the hotel wishes to offer.

Now that's luxury!

Buzzirk Mobile - Changing The Global Phone Industry

By Jarod Johnson

Buzzirk Mobile, a division of Global-Verge, is launching it's new cell ZERO 1 phone on July 1, 2009. This industry changing phone with superior connection speed promises to give Buzzirk Mobil customers more data download power, features and savings than any other cell phone provider.

Advertised at a fixed monthly cost with no long-term contracts of $79.95, Buzzirk Mobile will provide all of the services that most people have come to expect from cell phone companies and then some! This fixed monthly cost includes the ability to have email, GPS, video downloads, anytime usage and unlimited minutes and no extra fees of any kind. For an additional ten dollars per month, the Buzzirk plan will give you the ability to call anywhere in the world and talk for as long as you want for the fixed price of $89.95 per month.

This "next generation" of wireless phone will work on the ZERO1 own carrier network and will interconnect with other carrier networks. It will offer true Broadband speeds on "enhanced" 3g GSM networks and is a true Quad Band phone.

The Buzzirk phones will eliminate the need for an aircard as they will be able to be connected to a laptop. They will also use Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Video streaming will be much better than current phones and the company claims that users will be able to download a 2 hour long movie in less than 4 minutes.

The Buzzirk phones will also provide members with video teleconferencing capabilities for up to 6 Buzzirk Mobile users.

Buzzirk Mobile is launching this product along with a business opportunity so that individuals will be able to make money through referral marketing. With projected users approaching over 1 million within a year of the July 1, 2009 launch, there will be significant incomes created with the Buzzirk Mobile "opportunity".

The compensation plan for Buzzirk Mobile will be a 3x3 forced matrix with many features and income streams that will be announced when the launch happens. There is obviously a benefit in signing up people personally into this business, but the real money will happen when huge numbers of people join the Buzzirk Mobile business.

Marketing a product like cell phone service does have challenges because of heated competition. One of these marketing obstacles is that most people already have cell phones and are locked into a plan. This fact may keep people from signing up into the Buzzirk Mobile system, but once they realize that there are no contracts with Buzzirk Mobile and that they only have to pay on a month-to-month basis, it should be relatively simple to get people to switch when their old provider's plans expire.

If Buzzirk Mobile's phones work as well as the marketing materials advertise, there should be a good opportunity for the home/online business crowd to make some significant money.

Samsung Sgh A177: The Phone For Text Junkies

By Charles Moore

With the multitude of expensive smartphones available many people might have trouble trying to find the right phone for them. There is a market for simple and affordable smartphones. The Samsung SGH-A177 is such a phone. With its lack of special features and amazing key board its a great phone for anyone who sends out a lot of text messages.

The Samsung SGH-A177 is one of the simplest phones to be released in the past couple of months. Most phones are either a flip phone or a slider. The Samsung SGH-A177 is neither it is a simple rectangular phone. Many tech junkies might be put off by this while others might embrace the simplicity in its design. Unfortunately the phone was made almost too simple. The plastic shell around the phone doesn't feel very strong. Anyone who is prone to dropping phones should be careful, or at least purchase a rubber skin case along with this phone. Also the screen on this phone is very small. Photos and games wont look as good as what we are obviously used to. If you don't plan on taking much pictures than the screens display is negligible. One of the best features on this phone is its full QWERTY keyboard which was obviously designed for comfort. They keys are slightly raised which is a very big plus as most phone users cant stand flush keys. Also the keys make an audible click noise when you press them while typing. This phone was obviously designed with text junkies in mind.

If you are looking for the next feature packed phone then look elsewhere. Besides basic cell phone functions the Samsung SGH-A177 only has instant messaging capabilities and Bluetooth service for headsets. The phone also features a camera but the picture quality is sub par despite the numerous image capture options. Also this phone cannot record any video.

The microphone installed in the phone needs definite improvement. If you are in a high traffic or loud noise area the microphone will pick it up and the caller on the other end will have trouble understanding you. Additionally the speakerphone is just atrocious. The other caller will sound very low and if the volume is increased to over compensate the caller will sound very distorted and garbled.

The Samsung SGH-A177 is an interesting phone. While it makes texting and messaging easy and comfortable it clearly lacks in a lot of other areas. If you are a serious text junky then this phone would be a wise purchase.
